If there’s food in your mouth, don’t put food in your mouth.
Diana, the Hilo Weight Watchers leader, shared that mantra with her members over a year ago (or was it two?). At the time it seemed obvious, but it’s turned out to be a really good piece of advice for me.
Sometimes I am so focused on the next bite, I find that I haven’t finished the current one and I’m already scooping more food into my mouth. That lack of being present is an issue for me. I’m often planning for the future or worrying about the past and failing to enjoy the moment. But I’ve been working on that, so this week I’m not putting food in my mouth when there’s already food in my mouth.
